Can Korea Become a Multicultural Society?

Roy Alok Kumar, a professor at Pusan University of Foreign Studies, on Monday became the 100,000th person to become a naturalized Korean citizen. Born in India, Kumar (55) came to Korea to study under a scholarship at Seoul National University in 1980 and settled here after marrying a Korean woman. They have two daughters. Kumar was able to gain Korean citizenship after 31 years because the Korean government allowed highly skilled workers to retain dual citizenship starting this year.
